Who We Are
Ann & Pete's Foster Home for Dogs is located in Pottageville, just North of Toronto, Ontario. We foster animals through the Humane Society and those that are brought to us through Animal Alliance's Project Jessie Program. which is dedicated to rescuing dogs from pounds where they are in danger of being euthanized or sold for research.
We rescue, on average, over 200 dogs a year as volunteers, thanks to the wonderful people who are prepared to open their hearts and homes to to a rescued dog.
We have worked in partership with Animal Alliance and Humane Societies for many years as a foster home in the pursuit of placing homeless dogs with loving families.
We try our best to match the right dog(s) to the right owner(s), but will also allow a trial period. All of our dogs are neutered/spayed, fully vaccinated and most of them are also micro-chipped.
Our adoption policy includes:
- a telephone interview
- an in-person interview
- a written contract
- an adoption fee
The adoption fee (and any kind donation) will be applied to veterinarian or mainenance costs.
For more information on the practice of selling pets for research, if you are interested in fostering, or if you would like to adopt a companion, please contact us.
Ann and Pete would like you to consider the toxic effects of lawn chemicals on pets, children and the environment. Animal Alliance is an environmental group that lobbies strongly to preserve habitat for wildlife.
The Partnership for Pesticide Bylaws, a new collaboration of health professionals and other concerned organizations, held a media conference to announce their call for Toronto to enact a bylaw prohibiting cosmetic pesticide use to protect public health, children's health, animal health and the environment.

Where does it say
That I have to suffer
Day after day.
What kind of life
Is this that I lead,
A parody, a shadow
Of all that I need.
Once I felt wanted,
Once I was strong
I was loyal and loving
Could that have been wrong?
I sit here and ponder
With time to reflect,
Do I really deserve
Abuse and neglect?
I know they all miss me,
They just haven't time,
The children left home
When they reached their prime.
I'm chained to a box
From daylight 'til dark,
If strangers approach me
It's my job to bark.
For me life is over
I wait for the day
My body surrenders
My soul flies away
Somewhere in heaven
I'm sure there must be
A real special place
For a good dog like me.
